Canadian Jewish Heritage Month was officially recognized by Parliament in 2018 with the proclamation of the Canadian Jewish Heritage Month Act to “recognize the important contributions that Jewish Canadians have made to Canada’s social, economic, political and cultural fabric.”
Dutch Culture in Daxx’s DNA
Daxx is a software development company with delivery centers spanning Ukrainian tech hubs. Being founded in Amsterdam in 1999 by entrepreneurs Bart Kuyper and Jeroen Rijnen, Daxx has an enduring history with the Netherlands.
Sharing common Dutch origin, Daxx executives were well on their way to do business with like-minded people. Ukraine was a country with a wealth of talent, and the newly hired initial Ukrainian team turned out to be a perfect match both culturally and professionally.
The company was growing by 20–30% annually, and gradually, the core Dutch values were adopted by around 500 Ukrainians working at Daxx today.
In 2016 the Vatican, recognizing the need to understand Indigenous religious protocols, invited Indigenous spiritual leaders from around the world to Rome. On May 4, eleven leaders met outside of Rome to prepare for their visit with Pope Francis. JoDe Goudy, as chairman and a longhouse spiritual leader of the Yakama Nation, began with a song and prayer to honor his peers and the occasion. Each leader followed with a similar honoring and mission: revoke the Doctrine of Discovery.
