SALEM â A year after COVID-19 hit, rural schools across Oregon are gradually reopening.
Rural school officials say the biggest challenges this year have been patchy internet access, wildfires, a shortage of substitute teachers and logistically difficult state-issued reopening requirements.
But most officials say they re thankful they ve been able to reopen.

Applying to an elite middle school sounds like a stressful experience, and I’m sure COVID-19 doesn’t help. With things like open houses, campus tours, and in-person interviews off the table, applicants have fewer chances to experience their prospective schools and admissions offices have fewer chances to meet their prospective students.
One San Jose private school has come up with a unique solution: The Harker School, self-described as “one of the nation’s top college prep schools,” is putting teams of sixth grade applicants through a virtual escape room. Over a Zoom call, the 11-year-olds work together to solve a series of Harker-themed puzzles, and admissions officers observe their behavior.

TAUNTON Two cultures and ideologies clashed verbally on the Taunton Green Saturday morning as people supporting the controversial thin blue line flag mural at Taunton High School rallied and were met by Black Lives Matter counter-protesters.
Each group claimed a side of the Green, putting up their flags and playing music. On the pro-police side, rally-goers waived thin blue line flags, raised one American flag and played country and classic rock music.
On the Black Lives Matter (BLM) side, protesters put up BLM flags, rainbow flags with the word peace on them, the transgender rights flag and the Philadelphia-style pride flag, which includes black and brown stripes for Black and brown people and pink and blue stripes for transgender people. Beyoncé, A Tribe Called Quest and Bob Marley, as well as other Black artists, could be heard playing near the flags.
90 Day Fiance: Larissa and Eric Nichols work on their bodies
Meanwhile, it seems Larissa Dos Santos Lima is not the only one who is motivated to get fit. The 90 Day Fiance star’s boyfriend, Eric Nichols, is also working hard on achieving a toned body.
In an Instagram post, Eric shared before and after photos of himself showing what he claimed to be the results of working out. The reality star flaunted his six-pack abs, seemingly pleased with it.
Eric said he became buff after doing some exercises for 10 days straight.
However, not everyone’s convinced it’s real. Many pointed out that it’s impossible to get toned abs in just a few days. Others even accused him of photoshopping his photo to make it look like he’s more muscular now.
