It is well documented that Canada scooped up thousands of Japanese Canadians during World War II, confiscated their possessions and shipped them off to detention camps for the duration of the war.
Prime Minister Mackenzie King used the War Measures Act to facilitate the move, but as for the history of internment, the unjust treatment of Japanese Canadians is part of a larger and longer story.

A bill that takes away local governmentsâ power to choose utilities generated without fossil fuels and that places multiple barriers for state universities to choose how they acquire their power sources is making its way through the Indiana legislature.
House Bill 1191, authored by Rep. Jim Pressel and passed by the Indiana House of Representatives by a wide margin, seeks to remove the power of local governments to place restrictions on public utilities based on the energy source of their services.Â
The bill would make it against the law for towns, cities and counties to decide to reduce the climate change impacts of local public utilities by moving away from greenhouse gas-emitting sources, like coal-fired generation or methane-laden natural gas.Â

The House of Representatives will vote Thursday on a resolution to strip Greene of her committee assignments.
The step to remove Greene from committee assignments comes amid widespread criticism for a series of extreme remarks that she made before winning her congressional seat.
“Not only do they force the [Republican] party to say whether or not they agree with them, but they are a gift to Biden and the Democrats because they don’t allow Republicans to effectively communicate their message opposing President Biden’s agenda,” said Siegfried.
