Fr Felix Chung, the first documented case of priest infected with COVID-19 in Kota Kinabalu was released from the hospital Jan 6, just over a month since he was taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital for quarantine.
Fr Chung, 83, retired from active priestly ministry, lives at Emmaus Home which is situated within the compound of the Sacred Heart Cathedral. The retired priest is known for his service to the poor and needy, and his ready availability to all who need a priestly presence and counsel in their moments of need.
Archbishop John Wong, following the advice from the Health Ministry, has given instructions to the parish to see to it that visitors are to be barred from Emmaus Home.
One of the recent unproven claims of voter fraud in Georgia elections targeted Atlanta’s homeless.
But rather than expose illegal activity, the stunt from Project Veritas instead revealed a voting system that pays little attention to people without housing.
The videos the right-wing media outlet released on Twitter earlier this week are typical of its work. They show a couple of covert interviews with homeless service provider employees outside their homes. One appears to be in a restaurant. The footage is shaky with choppy edits.
In the videos, Project Veritas makes the claim that these nonprofits are wrongly using their address to register quote “countless” people to vote.

“Christ, our Hope”, a theme apt for these times.
Just when things started to get better in November and we were preparing to attend Mass at church in the first weekend of Advent, the excitement and joy were short lived when it was announced that a priest residing at Emmaus Home, located in the compound of Sacred Heart Cathedral, contracted COVID-19 and that the church would have to be closed for two weeks. This is how uncertain the situation can be these days.
Year after year, one of the things the youth look forward to is the house-to-house Advent visit, where it is an annual opportunity for us to share Christ’s joy through the singing of carols. Due to the pandemic, this year, that has been suspended.
