Macey Kvilvang posted a big double-double for the Vikings, scoring a career-high 28 points and pulling down 12 rebounds in the win. Maara Nelson added 18 points and five rebounds Saturday. Valley City State improves to 7-10 overall and 5-6 in the NSAA. Waldorf drops to 1-16 overall and 1-10 in the conference. “I’m proud of this group for finding a way to get out a win on the road. VALLEY CITY – The Valley City State women’s basketball team dropped a hard-fought battle against Mayville State Saturday, 58-53. Valley City State drops to 6-9 overall and 4-5 in the conference. Mayville State improves to 11-3 overall and 6-2 in the NSAA. The two teams battled throughout the first half, totaling five lead changes and seven ties, including a 28-28 tie at the break. Early in the third quarter, Dani Schwanke hit back-to-back 3’s to gain a 34-33 Viking lead. The two traded baskets until Mayville’s Danneka Voegeli scored back-to-back buckets to widen the Comet lead at 41-38. Andranae Powns finished the third quarter with a layup to close the gap to just a point, trailing 43-42.

MOROCCO — Rensselaer Central snapped a five-game skid Tuesday night, beating host North Newton, 55-41. The Lady Bombers improve to 7-11 with the victory, while North Newton falls to 6-7 overall. The Bombers got off to a solid start, taking a double-digit lead early against the Spartans, who got 10 points each from Danielle Hinch and Heidi Schleman. Cayci Ehlinger added nine points with four rebounds two assists and three steals and Grace Hollopeter had four assists and two steals. Bulldogs too strong for KVHS CROWN POINT — Class 4A No. 2 ranked Crown Point sped to a 19-2 lead after the first quarter and were never threatened in beating Kankakee Valley, 70-30, on Tuesday night.

Viking Women Use Big First Half To Cruise To Win

VALLEY CITY, N.D. (vcsuvikings.com) – The Valley City State women’s basketball team opened with a big first half and never looked back en route to an 81-49 over Waldorf University Friday night. Dani Schwanke‘s 18 first-half points paced the Vikings to a 49-26 lead at halftime. She went a perfect 6-for-6 from the field and 5-for-5 on three-pointers through the first 20 minutes of play, finishing with 22 points off the Viking bench. Adriana Torres (14), Maara Nelson (12), and Allie Critchley (11) also scored in double figures Friday. Emma Nielsen dished out a team-high six assists, and Taryn Dieterle led the defensive effort with four steals.
