Traffic problems on a busy school road have been described as “absolute hell” and “complete carnage” by two leading councillors. Mayor of Whitehaven, Brian O’Kane and councillor Carl Walmsley are among those to voice concerns over the amount of traffic in the Red Lonning area, near Campus Whitehaven, which houses St Benedict’s Catholic High School and Mayfield School. It is with sadness we announce the passing of Mr. Lawrence John ‘Larry’ Sept at the Red Deer Hospice in Red Deer, Alberta on Thursday, April 8, 2021 at the age of 88 years. Larry was born on November 17, 1932 in Leader, Saskatchewan, to Henry and Elizabeth Sept. Larry was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend of many. He accepted the role of all these facets of life with love and passion. His greatest passion was his family. He proudly watched his children and grandchildren become involved in figure skating, hockey, baseball, or marching bands. He enjoyed camping, curling, travelling, card games and whatever sport was playing on TV. He was also a member of the Lions Club and the Masonic Lodge. Central Davidson s softball team celebrated senior night in style with a 4-0 non-conference win over Porter Ridge on Wednesday.
The Spartans (6-1, 3-1 Central Carolina 2A) ranked No. 14 in the West in HighSchoolOT s midseason poll honored seniors Emma Leonard, Kalei Merrill, Emma Jackson, Paisley Tate and Korina Lookabill prior to the game.
Junior pitcher Salem Ward pitched a complete-game shutout, allowing just four hits and two hit batters while striking out 13 over seven innings.
Natalya Salo was one of the few bright spots in the loss for the No. 24 Pirates (5-2, 5-1 Southwestern 4A). The freshman pitched all seven innings, allowing two earned runs on seven hits with nine strikeouts. She also recorded a couple of base hits in the batter s box.
