Three days straight of public hearings with 140 people scheduled to speak (not all showed up) means there were plenty of suggestions, critiques, and praise for the council’s proposed Long Term Plan.
Three full days of public submissions made for plenty of suggestions and criticisms from the public for the council’s plans, so this week’s column looks at some highlights. On the first day of the hearings on Tuesday, there was a broad range of speakers and topics brought to the table. While some submitters used their five or 10 minutes of speaking time to focus on a single issue, others took aim at a wide range of topics in the short time allocated.

Leading figures in the UK entertainment industry have expressed reservations about the prospect of using Covid passports as venues reopen, especially if they require proof of vaccination.
The government has said Covid-status certificates could be used at theatres, nightclubs and festivals from June.
They could be used to prove if a person has been vaccinated, has had a recent negative test or has natural immunity.
But some industry figures say they have deep concerns over the proposals.
The announcement of a series of pilot events, which will start later this month, has already proved controversial.
