It s easy to get a vaccine now- but some are still holding out

SPOKANE, Wash.- It’s now easier than ever to get a vaccine and the summer plans for our families are dependent upon the vaccination numbers going up. Many pharmacies like Walgreens, Albertsons, and Rite Aid (in both Washington and Idaho) are taking walk-in vaccinations and appointments can be made same-day. Despite the ease of getting a vaccine, 10% of the population say they’ll get the vaccine whenever they get around to it. That’s according a recent Harris Poll. Governor Inslee shared on Tuesday that the vaccinations are “our ticket to reopening.” He followed by saying “There is reason to have hope that if, IF, we continue our progress on vaccinations, sometime in the summer, we could potentially have normal activities in our state.”

Local band takes to YouTube to perform through COVID pandemic

KXLY May 6, 2021 6:48 PM Emily Blume SPOKANE, Wash. Smash Hit Carnival has roots in Spokane, and even though some of the members have traveled the world, they found their way back home. Now, they’re performing for their own community. They’ve been playing together across the Inland Northwest for a few years now, and a couple of them even played together a few decades ago. “It would have been 1997,” recalled Kevin Dodson. Typically, this group stays busy in our community playing at corporate events, casinos, private parties, and weddings. At the onset of COVID though, live performances fell flat almost overnight. Determined to keep playing and keep performing, they decided to stream their performances on YouTube.

A nice Friday leads to a soggy Saturday! - Emily

Happy Friday! Mostly sunny skies for the day with our highs in the low to mid-60s and the winds, nice and calm for us. As we head into the evening and overnight hours, we’ll have increasing cloud cover with an overnight low of about 44 degrees. Saturday we’ll get widespread showers across the region with a high of just 53 degrees and winds out of the South at 3-8 MPH. While not an ideal Saturday forecast, we desperately need this rain so it’s good news for us. The rain chances will linger through Sunday and Monday with hit or miss showers throughout the day. Enjoy your weekend!

Isolated thunderstorms could develop Thursday afternoon! -Emily

Isolated thunderstorms could develop Thursday afternoon! -Emily April 22, 2021 7:47 AM Emily Blume Updated: SPOKANE, Wash. – For our Thursday (Earth Day!), we are looking at about a 30% chance of isolated thunderstorms across the region- particularly through Eastern Washington and Northern Idaho. If this comes to fruition, brief heavy downpours, lightning, wind gusts up to 35 MPH, and small hail is all possible after 11 AM. Other than that, we have a high of 63 degrees, with partly sunny skies and winds coming out of the NE at 5-8 MPH. We’ll dry it out for Friday with increasing cloud cover and then the rain returns for our weekend as our temps drop back into the 50’s. We are in need of rain, so while a bit dreary, this is a good forecast. Have a great day!
