JAMESTOWN, N.D. (Jamestown Chamber) – Members of the Jamestown Area Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors held a ribbon cutting ceremony for Pit Stop Express Lube.

Businesses qualify for a ribbon-cutting ceremony if they open, move, remodel, are under new ownership or change their name.

The final award was the Citizen of the Year, which was given to Kari Newman Ness. The award recognizes an individual who has dedicated their life, resources, and service to the betterment of the community.
Ness thanked her late father Harold Newman and the continued service of her mother as inspiration to her continued dedication to Jamestown.
Later, outgoing board president Mary Lou Urquhart passed the gavel to incoming board president Matthew Pepple.

Kari Newman Ness received the Citizen of the Year award from the Jamestown Area Chamber of Commerce.
The chamber’s board of directors selected Newman Ness from nominations received for the award, said Emily Bivens, executive director of the chamber.
The banquet is also when the chamber gives out it’s most prestigious awards. These include the Business of the Year, Young Professional of the Year, Above & Beyond award, and the Citizen of the Year award.
Bivens says the Beautification Committee will also give out their year end awards which include the Continuing Beautification of the Community, Best Landscaping, and Spot of Beauty.
Because of the pandemic, the banquet will be a virtual event set to premier on Thursday, January 28th at 7 PM. The banquet will be livestreamed on NewsDakota.com and later available on other platforms including the Jamestown Chamber of Commerce Facebook page.
