CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) - As more adults get COVID-19 vaccinations, some are turning their attention to kids, and students. Many are wondering if public schools and universities will begin to issue new vaccination mandates.
Requiring certain vaccinations for students before they enter a classroom is not new, but the COVID-19 vaccine is.
As a follow-up to our story on Thursday, which discussed the legality of vaccine mandates in the workplace, we asked the same two lawyers if schools can require their students to get the shot.
The city of Charlottesville is seeking outside counsel to help them fight a lawsuit coming from the Omni Charlottesville Hotel located on the downtown mall.

ALBEMARLE COUNTY, Va. (WVIR) - The Albemarle County Police Department is investigating a two-motorist, one cyclist crash that happened near the intersection of Ivy Road and Bloomfield Road on Monday, April 12 around 3 p.m.
The cyclist was transported to UVA Medical Center where they later succumbed to injuries from the accident. There were no other injuries reported.
The crash is under investigation.
According to Albemarle County police, no further information will be released at this time. This is the first traffic fatality of 2021 in Albemarle County.
