Owerri Attacks: Osinbajo visits Imo, asks Nigerians to reject violent groups
The police have blamed the attacks on the outlawed Indigenous People Of Biafra (IPOB) and its security arm, ESN.
A day after armed men attacked a police headquarters and a prison facility in Imo State,
Vice President Yemi Osinbajo visited the state where he appealed to residents to reject violent groups.
PREMIUM TIMES reported the early Monday attack on the police headquarters in Owerri during which one police officer sustained gunshot injury. The gunmen, using guns and dynamites, also attacked the Owerri correctional facility where over 1,800 inmates were freed.
