Two people have died in crashes today - including a person who was in a truck which collided with a train just outside Marton.
Emergency services were alerted to the incident on Saunders Rd off State Highway 1 just after 3.30pm.
Multiple police cars and fire appliances were on the scene.
Contractors blocked off the road from State Highway 1.

A leading auction house which was set to sell a musket once owned by Māori chief Hongi Hika has been targeted with threats.
The item was expected to go under the hammer on May 17 in Auckland at Webb s Auctions. It was estimated to have a potential sale price of up to $150,000.

Jetstar is launching its return for free fares, which push prices between New Zealand cities as low as $39 and round-trip flights to the Gold Coast to $179.
The low-cost carrier says huge demand on Facebook called for the promo this week.
Travel periods are from early August and are subject to a number of conditions.
The sale will be for just four hours today - between noon and 4pm.

Auckland Council has no intention to lift the region s water restrictions yet, which will have been in place for one year this Sunday.
Restrictions were introduced almost one year ago - May 16, 2020 - and authorities had previously flagged the earliest restrictions could lift is August 2021.
