The Opposition People’s National party (PNP) has expressed concern over the sharp rise in COVID-19 cases over the past several days.
It is urging the Government to review its strategy, measures, and protocols, which have been in place for almost one year since shortly after Jamaica recorded its first confirmed case of the coronavirus on March 10, 2020.
Opposition spokesman on health, Dr Morais Guy, in a statement Friday, said that with Jamaica recording almost 900 cases so far this week, the situation is alarming and in need of urgent fixing.
“The Ministry of Health and Wellness should immediately disclose whether this spike results from tests of a sample backlog or the normal daily testing routine from across the island,” said Guy.
