Credit unions backing mental health initiative

KILRUSH and Derg Credit Unions have teamed up to help a key suicide prevention charity which is rolling out a community-based system to ensure support is available for anyone in mental health distress.
Cycle Against Suicide’s Community Buddy Programme trains and equips people in communities with the practical, hands-on skills and knowledge they need to deliver support locally.
Cyclists are being encouraged to “buddy up” as part of a month-long fundraising campaign.
Cycle Against Suicide is providing training programmes to equip volunteers with skills to help others in mental health distress.
The mantra behind the group is
‘It’s OK not to feel OK; and it’s absolutely OK to ask for help’
The “Share the Load on the Road” campaign also includes a 670 kilometre virtual cycle and runs until May 31. Share the Load on the Road
