Kuttanad farmers to get a community radio

AAA Kuttanad FM 90.0, a community radio service for farmers in the area will be launched on Wednesday. The community radio under the Farm Information Bureau (FIB) of the Agriculture Department will broadcast farm-oriented programmes.
A first-of-its-kind in the government sector in the State, the radio station is set up on the premises of the State Seed Testing Laboratory at Kalarcode here. It will be inaugurated by Agriculture Minister V.S. Sunil Kumar at 11 a.m.
Officials said it would be available on 90.0 frequency. “The community radio service is aimed at providing information to the farming community in Kuttanad on a host of subjects. It will aid agricultural development in the area,” said an official.

Ending a three-decade wait, the Puthur zoological park has become a reality. Forest Minister K. Raju inaugurated online the first phase of Asia’s second largest zoological park on Saturday.
Animals will be transferred to the park by the end of February.

Fifth edition of agripreneurship event begins The fifth edition of VAIGA-2021, aimed at sustainable development through Agripreneurship, opened here on Wednesday.
Education Minister C. Ravindranath inaugurated the five-day event. The event will be held in five venues till February 14. “VAIGA has brought a visible change in the agriculture sector in the State. It modernised the farming methods. The State witnessed a farm revolution in the past five years. Other States can follow the farm policies introduced by Kerala,” he said.

Adalats to be held on February 15, 16 and 18 in Ernakulam The Ernakulam district authorities received 1,975 petitions till Sunday under the ‘Santhwana Sparsham’ programme of settling complaints from the public through hearings under the leadership of ministers appointed by the Chief Minister.
Of the total number of petitions received, 1,638 have been sent to the departments concerned while 84 petitions have been settled and 240 petitions are being processed.
Industries Secretary A.P.M. Mohammed Hanish issued instructions to officials who would address the petitions, said a communication from the Public Relations Department. The adalat is being organised as part of the 100-day programme of the government.
