Two new artists join old favorites for upcoming Guys Art Show

EmailPrint BY SUSAN HANAFEE – Two artists new to Boca Grande will be joining favorites Johan Bjurman and John Mitchell Sr. as the men put on their masks and raise their brushes for the third annual Guys Art Show next week. The show opens Friday, January 22, at the Boca Grande Art Alliance from noon to 5 p.m. and continues on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. “We are excited to team up with these very talented artists, Val Chapko and Joe Palmerio,” says Mitchell. “Both of these men are highly regarded in their fields, and it will be a treat to have their works on display and available for purchase at the island’s art center.”

Demo Artist - The Island Connection

Demo Artist Stephanie Marzella Stephanie Marzella, who was originally scheduled to be the demo artist for the March 2020 meeting, has agreed to be the demo artist for the Jan. 19 meeting of the Seabrook Island Artist Guild, which will be held outdoors behind the Lake House. Please bring a chair and dress for the weather. Non-members are welcome to attend and join the Guild. The annual membership dues are $30. Marzella has been a painter of landscape and still life since receiving her bachelor of fine arts degree from the Cleveland Institute of Art in 1984. She was born and raised in Ohio. Soon after receiving her BFA, she moved to Rhode Island and began to focus on landscape and quiet water. In 2016, Marzella relocated to the thriving arts community of Charleston and now lives on Johns Island. The driving forces behind her work are her love of nature and interpretive use of color. Her inspiration comes from living on a tidal cove off Narragansett Bay in Rhode Island
