One dead following crash in Edmonson County

WNKY 40 News April 3, 2021 Chalybeate, Ky. – On April 3, 2021, around 12:00 PM, Kentucky State Police Post 3 was requested by the Edmonson County Sheriff’s Office to investigate a fatal collision. Troopers responded to the scene of the collision that occurred on Denham Road near the intersection of Noah Bledsoe Road in Edmonson County. According to a report, 91 year-old Wilmon N. Linger, of Smiths Grove, was operating a 2005 Pontiac van on Noah Bledsoe Road. Linger veered onto Denham Road where his vehicle exited the right side of the roadway, striking a tree and causing the vehicle to overturn. A passenger in the vehicle, 88 year-old Mary C. Linger , of Smiths Grove, was pronounced dead at the scene by the  Edmonson County Coroner’s Office.

WKU to Offer Public Health Program at WKU Regional Campuses

Susan Esters Wednesday, March 17th, 2021 Bowling Green, Kentucky – Adult learners in Elizabethtown, Glasgow, and Owensboro regions will have a new degree option through WKU Public Health beginning this fall. Students at these regional campuses will be able to complete a Bachelor of Science in Public Health through a hybrid format including connected classrooms and online. The program is designed to prepare students for a challenging career in a large number of disciplines related to improving the quality of life for people and communities. Sharon Brooks completed her degree from WKU in 2017. She now uses her degree to help her community as the Family Resource Coordinator for Edmonson County Schools.

Article content Suspecting that the driver was drug-impaired, the officers had him complete roadside sobriety testing, which showed further signs of impairment. The vehicle driver, 33, was arrested for drug-impaired driving and transported to the RCMP detachment to complete a drug influence evaluation. A trained officer carries out that evaluation, using a 12-step test that involves both questions and psychophysical tests, including a blood or urine test to determine impairment. The legal limit is two nanograms of THC per millilitre in whole blood, at which level a driver could be facing criminal charges and fines. If the level is greater than five nanograms of THC per millilitre of blood, this could result in a fine or imprisonment, according to the information from the provincial government.

That is a staggering loss. It’s so large it’s hard to actually see it in your mind, to process how big it is,” said Gov. Beshear. “You could fill up both UK and UofL stadiums three-and-a-quarter times and that would represent the number of lives, the number of people that we have lost in America.”
