Verdant approves funding for $2 5 million in community health grants

MY EDMONDS NEWS Posted: June 28, 2021 135 During the Verdant Health Commission’s recent funding cycle, the board of commissioners approved more than $2.5 million in grants. These funds will be put directly into South Snohomish County to address community health and well-being needs. The grants listed below will support 14 different multi-year projects or programs run by 13 organizations, totaling $2.56 million (annual budgets for each project are listed): Cascade Bicycle Club – Let’s Go Edmonds bicycle and pedestrian safety education program for youth – $50,000 Center for Human Services – School-based Youth Counseling Program – $350,000 Compass Health – Community Transitions Program for mental health support working with the South County Fire Community Paramedic Program – $151,627

Hazel Miller Foundation announces recipients of grant awards

Edmonds College Foundation to hold annual fundraising gala virtually April 21-24 Posted: February 28, 2021 253 The Edmonds College Foundation will hold its annual fundraising gala online April 21-24. This is the foundation’s second virtual gala since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. The 2020 event attracted over 250 guests and raised more than $270,000 for student success. Funds raised this year will help the foundation continue providing scholarships, emergency funding and other investments in educational opportunities. “The Edmonds College Foundation has continued to adapt and innovate throughout the pandemic to meet the needs of our students,” said EC President Dr. Amit B. Posted: February 18, 2021 801 I recently reviewed food from the Triton Taste, the food truck that is an integral part of the culinary program at our local Edmonds College. I had a chance to have an email conversation and have a few quick chats while waiting for food with Chef Instructor Stacey Schwartz. She’s in place each week supporting the team of students who are cooking and preparing food for hungry customers that visit the truck every Thursday at the Dayton and 4th location in downtown Edmonds. During a recent visit to procure some items from the previously mentioned pastry case, at the café location on the Lynnwood campus, I met Chef Instructor for Culinary Arts Kevin Fogarty.
