Very very bad Ballyfin road will have to wait for council to get cash

A road at Irey, Ballyfin which it has been claimed is in a very bad condition will have to wait for an upgrade.
Cllr Paddy Bracken raised the issue with Laois County Council recently. He tabled a motion at the Borris-in-Ossory Mountmellick Municipal District meeting calling on Laois County Council to carry out road repairs.
“It’s in a very very bad state. It needs major work,” he levelled.
Cllr Seamus McDonald backed his Fianna Fáil colleague and went further saying it is a safety risk.

A motorway maintenance firm is responsible for the repair of a wall at motorway services in Ballacolla according to Laois County Council.
So councillors were told Mr Edmond Kenny, District Engineer who was responding to a motion tabled by Cllr John King at the Borris-in-Ossory Mountmellick Municipal District.
“That this Council investigates who is responsible for repairing the large opening in the wall directly in front of the entrance to Manor Stone Filling station near Ballacolla, which was damaged by a vehicle and not picked up by a camera,” said Cllr King.
A bridge built in the year the GAA was founded has a new plaque as part of repair work needed after a crash twenty years ago. The move was confirmed to Cllr Joh.
A lot of complaints about rough and tough Laois road

A rough and tough road in the Cullohill area has attracted a lot of complaints, according to Cllr Ollie Clooney.
He wants Laois County Council to re-surface the road near Boston, Cullohill.
“I’ve got a lot of complaints about this. It is very rough and tough in places. Lorries use it on the way from Manor Stone. I would
be very grateful if something was done,” he said at the recent Borris in Ossory Mountmellick Municipal District meeting.
Mr. Edmond Kenny, District Engineer replied Laois County Council will assess this road in the overall context of the development of a future roads programme.
Almost impossible to use Laois officials told

Road flooding at a road in Rosenallis has reached a point where it is almost unusable, according to Cllr Seamus McDonald.
The councillor wants Laois County Council to resolve the flooding problem at Clonduff, Rosenallis.
While a long-running problem, its condition has deteriorated to a point where it is unusable
“It’s almost impossible to use the road, it s that bad,” he said at the recent Borris in Ossory Mountmellick Municipal District meeting.
Mr Edmond Kenny, District Engineer replied that the council would arrange to meet Cllr McDonald at the site and will undertake a level survey to identify a possible drainage outfall to solve this issue.
