ABC announces search for day-to-day replacement for founder Blumenthal
American Botanical Council founder Mark Blumenthal said he plans to step back into a more advisory role as the organization seeks a new Executive Director. NutraIngredients-USA photo.
“Just to clarify, I’m not leaving,” Blumenthal told NutraIngredients-USA.
“I’ll still be around as someone who can provide institutional memory.”
Blumenthal noted that ABC has grown tremendously since he founded the nonprofit platform in 1988. The original purpose was to provide greater support for the newsletter he was already publishing under the aegis of ABC’s progenitor, the Herb Research Foundation.
“It was a newsletter we created on a typewriter and pasted it up with glue sticks,” Blumenthal said.

The supplementation of caralluma fimbriata extract has been shown to reduce calorie intake, waist circumference, and weight loss in a 16-week study funded by Gencor Pacific.
Caralluma fimbriata is a succulent traditionally used in India as an appetite suppressant during famine, as well as tribal people when they were hunting for food in the forests.
The study, published in
Scientific Reports, looks at the extent to which Slimaluma – a proprietary and patented
caralluma fimbriata extract by Gencor Pacific – could control feelings of satiety and calorie intake in adults.
According to Gencor Pacific, this is the fifth human clinical trial that the company has conducted on the proprietary and patented extract that has been commercialised about 17 years ago.
