A US mum who claimed a couple tried to snatch her kids while shopping is facing six months in jail after the police investigation took a turn.
An influencer mum in the United States is facing prison time, with police alleging she falsely claimed a Latino couple had tried to kidnap her children.
California woman Katie Sorensen posted two videos to her Instagram account in December last year, claiming Sadie and Eddie Martinez had tried to take her children.

Katie Sorenson faces misdemeanor charges of lying to police over a purported incident at a Michael s in Petaluma in which she claimed a couple followed her around the craft store while talking about her children before one of them lunged for her stroller. Videos of her recounting the attempt went viral days later, but a Petaluma PD report showed investigators were not able to corroborate Sorenson s version of events and her viral video was soon deleted.
Instead, police were able to find alleged attempted kidnappers Sadie Vega-Martinez and Eddie Martinez, who basically had no idea what they were talking about. Whereas Sorenson claimed the couple described her kids to a third party on the phone, the Latino grandparents were probably just talking about their own grandkids. The couple, who fully cooperated with police and were charged with no crime, say Sorenson racially profiled them that day last December. A famous TikToker is now facing criminal charges for allegedly lying to police about a kidnapping attempt.
Katie Sorensen accused a couple, Sadie and Eddie Martinez of trying to take her two children outside of a Michael s craft store. Per news reports, Sorensen was seen sharing the details of what she claimed happened on TikTok. Everybody s guilty of living in a bubble, their own little world. And I m not sure what hers consisted of, but possibly, you know, seeing people that maybe weren t dressed the same as her, had different upbringing as her and a darker skin tone, was disturbing or bothersome to her, said Sadie Martinez.
