Rumoured BT Sports suitor DAZN has signed Matchroom Boxing to a five-year deal in the UK and Ireland.
Sports streamer DAZN has announced an exclusive five-year deal with Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom which sees one of Sky Sports ‘crown jewel’ broadcast rights packages move entirely online.
DAZN gets the rights to at least sixteen UK fight nights for its audience in the UK and Ireland.
It expands on a US$1bn international rights deal agreed between DAZN and Matchroom which had been running in tandem with the promoter’s Sky deal, with the UK broadcast on pay-tv.

(Reuters) â Sports streaming service DAZN said that it had struck a five-year global deal with boxing promoter Eddie Hearnâs Matchroom stable, after an earlier agreement with Comcastâs Sky to host Hearnâs top fighters expired.
DAZN said it would show at least 16 Matchroom UK fights a year from July exclusively to subscribers in Britain and Ireland, and will also air Matchroom UK bouts to viewers around the world starting on July 31.
âAs we continue Matchroomâs expansion worldwide, this new deal will enable us to further cement DAZN as the unrivalled global home of boxing,â said Hearn, who recently took over from father Barry as chairman of Matchroom.

Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom Boxing have signed a five-year global deal with DAZN, thus moving his UK stable to the streaming service.
Matchroom end their long-standing partnership with Sky Sports after months of speculation as to where their future would lie in the UK once their current deal, which was extended in 2015 after an initial deal was struck in 2012, expires this summer.
At least 16 Matchroom UK fights annually will be available exclusively to DAZN subscribers in the UK and Ireland, starting from July 31 with three back-to-back shows which will see the return of the second addition of Fight Camp from the gardens of the Essex-based headquarters.
