All three pleaded not guilty Monday in a hearing in the jail courtroom in Santa Ana and were ordered to return to court Jan. 4 for a pretrial hearing in the West Justice Center in Westminster. Nava-Ayala is charged with three counts of attempted murder, three counts of assault with an assault weapon and a count of shooting into an occupied building. He also faces sentencing enhancements for attempted premeditated murder, the personal use of an assault weapon and causing great bodily injury. He could face up to 82 years to life in prison if convicted at trial. Ocampo Nava is also charged with three counts of attempted murder, three counts of assault with an assault weapon and one count of shooting into an occupied building. Calif men who police say shot up strip club may face life in prison

USA TODAY Two California men could face life in prison after being accused of shooting into a strip club they got booted from for not wearing masks. A Halloween trip to the Sahara Theatre, a strip club in Anaheim 4 miles east of Disneyland, was cut short after Edgar Nava-Ayala, Daniel Ocampo and Juan Acosta-Soto were kicked out by security guards for not complying with the venue s mask requirements. They returned to the Sahara in a red Toyota Camry. Nava-Ayala allegedly fired about 15 rounds from an AK-47 semiautomatic rifle “indiscriminately” into the club, according to statements from the Orange County District Attorney’s Office and the Anaheim Police Department.
