EBACE Connect is set to kick off next week with pilot and aviation visionary Erik Lindbergh headlining the keynote session on May 18, followed by a town hall featuring leading OEMs on May 19. The virtual event, which is supplanting the in-person EBACE held annually in Geneva, will run from May 18 to 20 and include a host of informational sessions and a media day, in addition to the keynote, town hall, and other activities.
European Business Aviation Association secretary-general Athar Husain Khan and NBAA president and CEO Ed Bolen will moderate both the EBACE Connect keynote and town hall.
Calling Lindbergh a pioneering aviator, business leader, and philanthropist who “knows personally what it takes to usher in a new era of aviation,” EBACE Connect organizers said he is expected to share his insights on sustainable flight, emerging transport technologies, workforce development, and other priorities for the Lindbergh Foundation.

NBAA has formed a new Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) Roundtable as a forum for high-level policy planning to chart a course for the integration of AAM technologies into U.S. airspace and infrastructure. According to NBAA, the roundtable will allow OEMs developing electric vertical takeoff and landing transport (eVTOL) vehicles and other systems to discuss topics such as airport access, airspace management, and local community engagement.
“On-demand air mobility offers tremendous opportunities, especially for business aviation,” said NBAA president and CEO Ed Bolen. “We are uniquely suited to offer expertise in tackling the considerations associated with AAM integration, and we are pleased to partner with this group of AAM leaders in moving this technology forward.”
This New Bio-Fuel Uses Old Cooking Oil to Fly Jets With 80% Less Carbon Emissions Michael Verdon
A business jet that runs on from cooking oil used to make fries at McDonald’s? Algae turned into Jet-A fuel to run the newest supersonic jet at sound-barrier-breaking speeds? That sounds like something from a sci-fi movie, but the technology is already being used on business jets around the world.
Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) is made from waste materials, such as cooking oil or animal fats in restaurants as well as other municipal wastes. But instead of ending up in landfills, the waste materials are turned into jet fuel. SAF cuts CO2 emissions by up to 80 percent, reduces particulate matter (that white tail in the sky) by 90 percent and eliminates sulfur oxide. It also can be used in any aircraft that uses fossil jet fuel, eliminating the need for any type of engine modification.
