In the competitive world of the media, there is surely a special camaraderie that exists, especially with those of us that have been at it for several decades.
Even when we don’t see each other very often during the season, the Super Bowl becomes tantamount to a family reunion, or perhaps more accurately a fraternity reunion. Of course, that’s not the case in this year of COVID-19.
Rumors surrounding the Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback position will be constant until a few major questions are answered.
First, will Ben Roethlisberger and the Steelers come to terms on a salary reducing extension?
Second, what are the Steelers plans to replace Ben Roethlisberger in the future.
Now it is possible for these questions to be answered as early as the conclusion of the 2021 NFL Draft. It’s also possible that one of these questions drags on into the 2022 offseason. As we see the rise of athletic quarterbacks such as Deshaun Watson and Josh Allen, prospects who have intriguing physical tools will come into focus during the draft evaluation process. You can add Jamie Newman to that incoming group.
When you turn on Jamie Newman s film, two aspects of his game will jump off the screen immediately. He throws a beautiful deep ball with good accuracy. According to Sports Info Solutions (starts at 2:30), the big-armed quarterback had a 67 percent on-target rate for pass attempts that went 20 or more yards downfield in 2019.
You ll also notice Newman can pound a QB draw up the middle, operate the run-pass option (RPO) or tuck and run with the ball when defenders close on his receivers downfield.
