Six talented young musicians from Northern Ireland will get the chance to further develop their craft after receiving the Young Musicians’ Platform Award.
Opera singer Andrew Irwin, cellist Angus McCall and pianist Justine Gormley were selected in the classical category, Jack Warnock and Rose Connolly in the traditional section and Roisin Donald (ROE) was chosen as the singer-songwriter awardee.
The awards are aimed at showcasing their abilities and support their development.
They will all now get the opportunity to spend time learning from a master musician, mentor, teacher or composer, either at home or abroad, with individual funding awards of up to £5,000.

Garry Hutchinson was doing some work recently on Ridgewood Avenue in Gainesville when he came across a trash pile at the curb.
Atop was a scrapbook for Gainesville Rotary Club for the years 1941 through 1944.
It’s significant not only because it provides a history of the club during that time, but those were the peak years of World War II. The scrapbook reflects how the club and the community carried on during the war. Local leaders at the time were prominent Rotarians.
Whoever kept the scrapbook entered handwritten accounts of every Rotary meeting, sometimes accompanied by newspaper clippings of the club’s activities.

Zac Purton has crowned a week of stellar milestones by becoming the first rider in history to partner nine Hong Kong International Races winners after Japanese mare Normcore upstaged Win Bright and Magical in the HK$28 million G1 Longines Hong Kong Cup (2000m) at Sha Tin.
Purton, 37, gained the ride on the grey after Christophe Soumillon was forced to forfeit the mount after failing to secure an unconditional release from quarantine following a COVID test on Thursday.
On Wednesday at Happy Valley, Purton became only the second jockey after Douglas Whyte to ride 1,200 winners in Hong Kong.
