Benin, Feb. 1, 2021 Two lawmakers at the Edo House of Assembly have defected to Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from All Progressives Congress(APC).
The lawmakers included Mr Yekini Idaiye representing Akoko-Edo 1 and Mr Nosayaba Okunbor representing Orhionmwon East Constituency.
Speaker Marcus Onobun read their letters of defection from APC on the floor of the House on Monday.
Onobun, while welcoming them to PDP, commended their desire to work with Gov. Godwin Obaseki in making the state great.
The defection of the two lawmakers has brought the number of PDP lawmakers in the House to nine, leaving the APC with only one lawmaker in the 10-man House.

Two All Progressives Congress lawmakers in the Edo House of Assembly on Monday resigned from the party and defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The two lawmakers are the former Deputy Speaker of the House and member representing Akoko-Edo I, Yekini Idaiye; and the Member representing Orhionmwon East Constituency, Nosayaba Okunbor.
The defection of the two lawmakers has brought the number of PDP lawmakers to nine with only one APC lawmaker in the 10-man house of assembly.

It was cheering news among top civil servants in Edo State, on Monday evening, as news filtered in that kidnapped Head of Service( HoS), Mr Anthony Okungbowa, has been released.
A source from the Edo State Service Commission disclosed the Okungbowa was released by his abductors unhurt.
A terse WhatsApp Application message circulated among the civil servants around 9.13 pm on Monday read: “Breaking… kidnapped HOS regained freedom unhurt. To God be the glory.”
A family source, who spoke on condition of anonymity also confirmed the development, saying that Okungbowa was released after the ransom demanded by his abductors was paid.
