A former Head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering in Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, Prof. Osadolor Odia, has been reportedly abducted by unknown gunmen in Edo State.
Reports said the Professor of Engineering was said to have been abducted on his way to his farm at Egoro, Ekpoma, Esan West Local Government Council of the state on Thursday morning.
A source in the University community said; “I can confirm that Prof. Osadolor Odia was kidnapped today on his way to his farm.
“The suspected kidnappers have already made contact with the family of the Professor and they are demanding N18 million ransom.”

The Bursar of the University of Benin, Mr Victor Imagbe, on Thursday, escaped being kidnapped by gunmen, who invaded his house at Ogheghe along the Sapele Road, Benin.
But an officer of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Ugiagbe Alex Osaghae, who was on guard duty at the home of the bursar, was killed by the gunmen, who also made away with his service rifle.
A source at the Edo State Police Command confirmed the incident, adding that investigation aimed at nabbing the perpetrators had commenced.

Following the continuous detention of some community leaders of Uzanu community by the Edo State Police Command (29 Days), after they willingly went for a meeting of reconciliation over boundary dispute between Igiode and Uzanu, called by Edo State government, a community leader in Edo State, High Chief Kennedy Izuagbe has appealed for their release.
The appeal is sequel to an invitation letter dated April 22, 2021, sent to Chief Izuagbe by the office of the Deputy Governor of Edo State, Hon Phillip Shuaibu, copying the Minister of State, Budget and National Planning, Mr. Clem Agba, for a meeting in Benin.
