A 25-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection to the incident and he is due to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Monday, May 3, 2021.
Police Scotland has asked for anyone with information on the incident, including anyone with dash-cam footage or private CCTV footage that could help with the enquiry, to contact them on 101.
The road was closed overnight and it was reopened shortly after 10am on Sunday.

Three seriously injured in rickshaw taxi crash in Edinburgh A man has been arrested and charged after three people were seriously injured in a rickshaw taxi crash. Police Scotland were called to a report of a collision on the West Approach Road, Edinburgh, at around 10.35pm on Saturday. It involved a motor car and a rickshaw taxi. Three people – the rider and passengers of the rickshaw – have been taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh with serious injuries. A Police Scotland spokesman said: “A 25-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident and enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.
AN activist is angry that he has been charged with a race crime for displaying a banner reading ‘England Stay Out of Scotland’ to stop the spread of Covid-19. 1/1 A MAN who posted sinister tweets about murdering George Galloway has been banned from contacting the politician. Alan Tilbrook (pictured below), 63, wrote several threatening comments referring to the controversial All For Unity party leader and posted them on his Twitter page last month. Tilbrook’s messages included: “This man [Galloway] only fit for a bullet thru the brain” and “[Galloway] shud (sic) have been shot years ago mite (sic) happen yet tho”. Tilbrook, of Windsor Park Terrace, Musselburgh, also posted: “You are not a Celt Galloway you are a traitor one day to meet a traitors end.” The comments were reported to the police and Tilbrook appeared at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Friday, where he admitted a charge of uploading threatening messages to social media.
