A total of 18 Army personnel are helping with the rollout at Southend Hospital. The hospital recently started offering the vaccine to the virus, following on from Basildon Hospital giving out the first doses before Christmas. Broomfield Hospital also started to offer vaccines last week in Chelmsford. A British Army spokesman said: “A small team from the military’s Vaccines Quick Reaction Force is working to support the delivery of the Covid-19 vaccine at Southend Hospital. “The force is made up of medically trained personnel who have been requested to work alongside the hospital’s clinical staff on a short-term basis to bolster its capacity.”

NHS England figures from today show there have now been 605 deaths at the East Suffolk and North Essex Trust, which runs Colchester and Ipswich hospitals. This is an increase of 12 on the day before. Another death has also been recorded at the Clacton Hospital, which is run by Anglian Community Enterprise, where there have been 18 deaths in total. Southend University Hospitals Trust has reported 30 new deaths today, Mid Essex Hospitals Trust eight and Basildon and Thurrock University Hospitals Trust four. Across England there have been another 661 deaths of patients who tested positive for Covid-19 inside the country s hospitals reported today.

The latest NHS England figures from today show a total of 512 patients have died at the East Suffolk and North Essex Trust, which runs Colchester and Ipswich hospitals. This is an increase of six on the day before. A total of eleven more deaths have also been confirmed at the Basildon and Thurrock University Hospitals Trust and six more at Mid Essex Hospitals Trust. Across England a further 405 deaths were confirmed at hospital trusts today.
