Santo Domingo, D.N.- As of January 20, 2021, Robert W. Thomas, who served as Deputy Chief of Mission since July 16, 2020, assumed the position of Charge d’Affaires of the United States Embassy in Santo Domingo. Mr. Thomas will remain in charge of the diplomatic mission until the appointment by the United States Government of a new Ambassador to the Dominican Republic.

The U.S. Embassy has prepared a list of private testing providers in the Dominican Republic. Local service providers can administer a COVID-19 test, with results typically available within 72 hours. Please note the test must be a viral test (PCR or antigen) and NOT an antibody test. The Embassy cannot administer or pay for tests. The Department of State assumes no responsibility or liability for the professional ability, reputation, or quality of services provided by the entities on this list.
Some resorts and hotels may offer testing onsite as well as some clinics or labs on this list may offer “home visits” at an additional cost. Please contact your hotel or the laboratory directly for details.

Santo Domingo, D.N.- The United States Embassy held a virtual event to bid farewell to its Ambassador Robin Bernstein, who will finish her mission as a diplomat in the country on January 20, 2021.
The event, carried out in a live interview format, lasting approximately 90 minutes, was broadcast through the embassy’s social media accounts and various national television channels. The show was produced by LASO Films and hosted by journalist Lorenny Solano.

The government of the Dominican Republic has extended the state of emergency and nationwide curfew. Failure to follow the curfew, including for U.S. citizens, may result in arrest and/or fines. Full details on the curfew can be found at https://presidencia.gob.do/
January 11-26 (M-F): Curfew from 5pm to 5am, with a grace period for transit until 8pm each day.
