Orolia chosen for GEODE, Galileo PRS project for European defense Galileo PRS encrypted signal integrated for first time Orolia, through its France-based entity Orolia Systèmes & Solutions (O2S), has been selected for the GEODE project to develop European standardized and sovereign Galileo PRS positioning, navigation and timing (PNT) receiver capabilities for military applications. The GEODE (Galileo for EU Defence) program aims at promoting the competitiveness and innovation of the Defense PNT industry in the European Union. The GEODE consortium will support the prototyping, testing and qualifying of military PNT technologies and resources such as PRS security modules, PRS receivers, GPS/Galileo PRS compatible Controlled Radiation Pattern Antennas (CRPA), and the development of a European PNT test and qualification facility.

By midyear, the U.S. Army should have nailed down what it wants in a replacement for the RQ-7 Shadow drone, with emphasis on vertical takeoff and landing capability that will untether ground combat units from prepared airfields. Plans are to have the capability development document an official list of weapon system requirements for the Future Tactical Unmanned Aerial System (FTUAS) finalized and approved by a board of Army procurement oversight officials by the end of June, according to Col. Joseph Anderson, the Army’s UAS program manager.

True Velocity Delivers More Than 625K Rounds of Composite-Ca

January 07, 2021 By Guns & Ammo Staff Texas-based ammunition manufacturer, True Velocity, finalized delivery of more than 625,000 rounds of the company’s proprietary composite-cased 6.8mm ammunition to the U.S. Army for consideration in the Next Generation Squad Weapon Program (NGSW). This milestone marks a significant point in the review process to become the U.S. Army’s next choice in small arms ammunition, which is anticipated to effectively replace the standard 5.56x45mm round carried by many soldiers. The U.S. Army initially shortlisted True Velocity’s composite-cased ammunition in August 2019 as a finalist for the NGSW program and the first shipment of 6.8mm True Velocity ammunition was delivered to the Army in August 2020. Following this most recent delivery, the Army will test the ammunition in a variety of settings throughout 2021 before issuing a final decision
