Metro Airport photo Vincent Surgent, a recently retired air traffic controller and whistleblower, is alleging that an erratic guidance system for planes landing on one of Metro Airport’s runways is unsafe, particularly in bad weather. Bill Laitner of the Detroit Free Press reports: Federal aviation officials stopped using the system in 2015, after less than a year of operation. But they resumed using it in 2018. In an official statement, the Federal Aviation Administration told the Free Press last week that it would keep using the system because the agency had put safeguards in place. But those safeguards were deemed inadequate in a high-level report, which was recently sent to President Donald Trump by the U.S. Office of Special Counsel. The report said that although the FAA tried to discredit air traffic controller Vincent Sugent, his concerns were fully supported by a detailed review of the FAA s own studies, as well as by the problems some pilots have encountered w
A Media Purge
The last few days of the Trump presidency and he, Trump, seems to be trying to make life miserable for the incoming president ……..
We hear all about the government purges….how politicians rid themselves of troublesome opponents…..(Stalin comes to mind)….well the US government news media is NO different since Trump boy toy has taken over command….
In June, a Steve Bannon ally and conservative filmmaker appointed by President Donald Trump took over running the US Agency for Global Media (USAGM), a vast international network of news agencies funded and operated by the US government.
Within hours of introducing himself to employees, the new CEO, Michael Pack, purged four top officials. He then went on to ban visas for certain foreign reporters and began investigating journalists at the agency for suspected anti-Trump bias. In October, he announced he was eliminating the agency’s regulatory “firewall” longstanding internal policies aimed at protecting

Probe Excuses Unsanitary Conditions For Detained Migrants
Law360 (December 15, 2020, 8:09 PM EST) An independent federal investigation has concluded that U.S. Customs and Border Protection is not at fault for holding immigrants beyond a 72-hour cap in unsanitary conditions at two Texas detention centers, finding that the facilities were strained for resources.
In a Monday letter to President Donald Trump, the U.S. Office of Special Counsel confirmed a CBP whistleblower s allegations that detainees were held longer than the agency s maximum limit, without adequate air conditioning and access to showers in facilities that were not regularly cleaned.
But the OSC said that a higher standard of care would ve been impossible to deliver given a surge.

(WXYZ) â The 7 Investigators were the first to expose an unsafe landing system at Detroit Metro Airport. Now one of Michiganâs congresswomen, who sits on a committee that controls the purse strings of the FAA, is weighing in and sheâs asking the agency for answers.
For landings on the western-most runway at Detroit Metro Airport, pilots have to approach at an angle. To do that, theyâve been using an antenna system called an Instrument Landing System, or ILS, Yankee offset localizer. Air traffic controllers say its placement at Metro Airport results in the signal getting interrupted, especially when planes taxi right in front of it in something called the âcritical area.â
