Man arrested for carrying concealed, unregistered handgun in car

A Toledo man was arrested Tuesday night after the silver 2021 Hyundai Accent he was driving was stopped in Bedford Township by a Monroe County Sheriff’s deputy and found to have an unregistered and loaded handgun inside. The deputy stopped the suspect at S. Telegraph and Smith Rds. after he saw him leave the Bedford Inn without stopping from a private drive. The man, 21, agreed to a search of the car, during which the deputy found a Glock 19 9mm pistol, a full magazine and 17 rounds of ammunition inside the glove compartment. The gun had one round in the chamber. The suspect had no license for the gun, the deputy’s report said.

Reading woman dies of injuries suffered in Exeter Township accident

A Reading woman died early Tuesday of injuries suffered when her car collided with a pickup truck Sunday in Exeter Township, Berks County acting Coroner Jonn M. Hollenbach said. Stacey Ehrhardt, 45, was pronounced dead at 1:35 a.m. in Reading Hospital by a trauma doctor. She died of multiple injuries, and the coroners’ office ruled her death as accidental, Hollenbach said. Exeter police said Ehrhardt was driving west in the 5200 block of Oley Turnpike Road between Glen Oley Drive and Ritters Road when she lost control on a curve, and the car spun into the opposite lane. A westbound pickup truck driven by Mark Kugler, 55, of Oley collided nose-first with the passenger side of the car, police said.
