Egyptian pharmaceutical firm Minapharm has agreed to produce more than 40 million doses a year of Russia s Sputnik V coronavirus vaccine,
Reuters reported the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF), which markets the vaccine abroad, saying today.
The two parties agreed to begin technology transfer immediately, it said in a joint statement with Minapharm, and the rollout is expected in the third quarter of this year. RDIF and Minapharm will initially supply over 40 million doses per year. Production will take place in Minapharm s biotech facility in Cairo for global distribution, the statement said.

Egypt reported a decline in daily COVID-19 recovery rates during the past 48 hours, according to official statistics released on Tuesday.
A total of 333 patients have been discharged from hospitals in the past 24 hours, compared to 765 a day earlier, Egypt s Health Ministry reported.
The country is currently witnessing a slight increase in daily coronavirus positive cases as it battles the pandemic s third wave.
On Monday, it detected 852 new coronavirus infections, raising the total number of cases nationwide to 217,168.
Eleven people were killed and about 100 injured on Sunday in a train accident in Egypt s Qalioubia province north of Cairo,
Railway authorities say that at least four train wagons ran off the tracks at the city of Banha in the province.
