Wine info:California grows over 100 varieties of grapes. The Calistoga AVA in Napa Valley includes over 50 wineries, known for producing cabernet sauvignon, zinfandel, petite sirah, charbono, and syrah varieties.
This storybook cottage is one of a cluster of 16 similar cottages scattered throughout an elm forest right in the heart of Calistoga. The cottages are collectively known as the Cottage Grove Inn, and they re located within easy strolling distance of the town s tasting rooms, shops, and restaurants.
The cottage is a relaxing and romantic place, with soft furnishings in white and rosy hues, reclaimed hardwood floors, vaulted ceilings, and a wood-burning fireplace (wood provided). The King bed has down bedding, and the spa-like bathroom offers robes, a two-person soaking tub, and shower. A customized armoire hides a kitchen nook with a small fridge and coffee and tea.

“We have a farm culture that’s different than other places in the world,” contends Carole Lawson, founder of the
Craft Wine Association. “We have regional foods or interpretations of food in our communities across the country, which are different from one place to another. The personality of the communities shows through the wines here, as they do in France or Spain, or any other place around the world.”

A business can’t simply rely on its heritage and history to succeed. It must have high-quality products, services, and ideas. For Sokol Blosser, one of the oldest and longest-running wineries in Oregon’s Willamette Valley, all of these qualities have fueled the family business for the last half-century.
Sokol Blosser began producing what would later become acclaimed Pinot Noir wines from the Dundee Hills and Eola-Amity Hills AVAs in 1971. Launched by wife and husband Susan Sokol and Bill Blosser (who had married in 1966 after both graduating from Stanford University), the winery produced its first vintage in 1977. It quickly began winning awards and set standards in the industry.
