Effingham Rotary Club Scholarship Applications Now Available

Effingham, IL / Effingham Radio Mar 10, 2021 9:52 AM Effingham, IL -(Effingham Radio)-  This year marks the 33rd year of the Effingham Rotary Club Scholarship Program.  The Effingham Noon Rotary Club once again will award two $1,000.00 scholarships:  one to a college-bound senior graduating from Effingham High School, and one to a college-bound senior graduating from St. Anthony High School. Applications for these scholarships may be obtained through the guidance counselors at each of the high schools.  Applications must be submitted by mail to the Effingham Rotary Club Scholarship Committee, and received by 12:00 noon on April 9, 2021. Each scholarship will be awarded based upon the following criteria:

Gatherings are being scheduled in Effingham County despite the pandemic

The city of Rincon is planning a weeklong spring fair with rides and food booths and public school students are planning proms and graduations. The events are drawing positive comments on social media from people who are weary of restrictions caused by the coronavirus. The director of the Coastal Health District questions the prudence of such events when four Effingham County residents died with the virus last week and community spread remains high. Attendees at the fair, April 2-11 at Freedom Park, will be asked to wear masks and there will be hand sanitizing stations at each ride and throughout the park.

Lake Land College Board Of Trustees Approves ERCA Intergovernmental Agreement

Effingham, IL / Effingham Radio Jan 12, 2021 4:39 PM Mattoon, IL -(Effingham Radio)- At the January Lake Land College Board meeting, trustees approved an intergovernmental agreement with 14 area school districts to formalize the role of the Effingham Regional Career Academy (ERCA) in providing specialized career and technical educational programs for students residing within the member districts. The intergovernmental agreement demonstrates the commitment of all involved to propel the Effingham Regional Career Academy forward and outlines the roles and responsibilities involved in delivering the programs. Lake Land College will administer career and technical education programs that allow students at the member districts to earn high school and college credit simultaneously.
