یہ بات سنہ 1999 کی ہے جب انڈیا کا مسافر بردار طیارہ اغوا کیا گیا تھا۔ طیارے کو افغانستان کے قندھار ایئر پورٹ لے جایا گیا تھا۔
یہ علاقہ اس وقت طالبان جنگجوؤں کے زیر کنٹرول تھا۔ لہذا اغوا کاروں اور انڈیا کے درمیان طالبان ثالثی کر رہے تھے۔ یہ پہلا موقع تھا جب انڈین حکومت نے طالبان سے کوئی رابطہ کیا تھا۔
اس کے بعد انڈین حکومت اور طالبان کے مابین کسی قسم کا باضابطہ سفارتی رابطہ نہیں ہوا۔ انڈیا ہمیشہ سے ہی افغانستان کی حکومت کے ساتھ رہا ہے۔
