CROWN POINT â One Crown Point teen is expanding her efforts to make a difference in the lives of those who need exceptional access to health care most during the coronavirus pandemic.
Charlotte Annes, a Crown Point High School sophomore, first joined the national nonprofit TeleHealth Access for Seniors this summer, picking up a role as lead for the state of Indiana.
Since partnering with the group this summer, Annes has helped deliver dozens of communication devices to health care providers serving at-risk veterans and seniors across Northwest Indiana.
Sheâs also added two volunteers in Indianapolis suburbs Carmel and Zionsville, expanding the nonprofitâs reach throughout the state.
“Community in Michigan City was at its best when we had neighborhood centers and community centers,” said Daniel McKinney, an adult education instructor at LaPorte County s newest satellite location.

MICHIGAN CITY â A new satellite location of the LaPorte County Adult Education program seeks to bring high school equivalency preparation directly to students.
LaPorte County Adult Education staff, joined by representatives of the Michigan City Housing Authority, had an informal open house Wednesday for their new satellite site in the community room of the Lakeland Estates public housing development with the programâs first series of classes beginning later that day.
