Ever since the pandemic has struck, heartbreaking news of lives lost has made each one of us numb. It is the arts, especially music that people turn to in such difficult times. But musicians, especially from the world of classical music, are mourning deep losses too. Several of its luminaries have succumbed to COVID or other illnesses, leaving a void in their field. Last year, Pt Jasraj succumbed to cardiac arrest. Earlier this year, Ustad Ghulam Mustafa Khan passed away. In April, Pt Rajan Mishra lost his battle with Covid and Last Month Pt Anandagopal Bandyopadhyay and Pt Devabrata Chaudhuri and son Prateek Chaudhuri all succumbed to the virus and it left their disciples, followers and friends in deep sadness.

On 3 March 2021, Ustad Ghulam Mustafa Khan would have turned 90: forty-five days shy, he passed away for his heavenly abode leaving the world of Hindustani classical music drowned in deep sadness.
A legendary vocalist, the Ustad belonged to the Rampur-Sahaswan gharana (in Uttar Pradesh) that had its roots traceable to the ancient period of classical singing and Mian Tansen. During his illustrious life time, he was studded with several laurels like Padma Shri, Padma Bhushan or Padma Vibhushan. However, it was his persona that brought glory to these awards rather than the other way around.
India should have the utmost regard for him as the brightest symbol of continuity of Hindutva. He belonged to a cluster of families and the lineage that were deeply engaged in shastriya gayeeki (classical vocal rendering) derived from the Sama Veda. Rishi Kapoor and Randhir Kapoor s younger brother Rajiv Kapoor passes away 15 minutes ago. He was 58 years old. Reportedly he suffered a massive heart attack, following which Randhir Kapoor rushed him to Inlaks Hospital, which was the closest medical facility available in Chembur.

And now a rather shocking and sad piece of news has wrecked the industry.
Former Bigg Boss 10 contestant and self-proclaimed Godman Swami Om passed away aged 63 in Delhi due to paralysis.
Swami Om died on February 3 at his residence in Ghaziabad s Ankur Vihar.
Swami Om was a contestant of Bigg Boss 10. As per reports, he had coronavirus three months ago and was ill for the last few months, after which he was undergoing treatment at a hospital in Delhi. However, he tested negative later, but due to weakness, he couldn t walk.
