Simon & Schuster has scrapped its plans to distribute a book written by one of the Louisville police officers who shot Breonna Taylor, after news of its publication ignited widespread criticism.

Simon & Schuster, one of the largest publishing companies in America, announced Thursday night on Twitter it will not distribute a book written by a Louisville Metro Police officer who took part in the raid that left Breonna Taylor dead in her apartment.
Post Hill Press, a Tennessee-based publisher, confirmed Thursday morning it is publishing a book by Sgt. Jonathan Mattingly, The Courier Journal first reported.
Simon & Schuster distributes books by writers published by Post Hill Press, but it will not do so with this book.

One of the police officers who took part in the raid that resulted in Breonna Taylor’s death has landed a book deal.
Sgt. Jonathan Mattingly, one of the three Louisville cops who participated in the no-knock raid of Taylor’s apartment in March 2020, is writing a book about the case titled “The Fight For Truth: The Inside Story Behind the Breonna Taylor Tragedy,” according to the Louisville Courier-Journal.
