May 12, 2021 ALMOST P266 million worth of illegal drugs were confiscated by law enforcers in the past 10 days, Department of the Interior and Local Government Secretary Eduardo Año said on Monday, May 10, 2021.
In his report to President Rodrigo Duterte, Año said 29,981.1 kilograms of methamphetamine hydrochloride (shabu) and 516.9 kilograms of marijuana with an estimated total value of P265,904,094 were seized during 1,121 anti-narcotics operations conducted by the Philippine National Police (PNP) and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) from May 1 to 9.
Año also said 1,543 drug users and peddlers were arrested, 19 were killed during the operations, and 38 surrendered.
PNP Chief Guillermo Eleazar said they will beef up coordination with the Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Councils, which are primarily in charge of the conduct of house-to-house visits to entice drug users or pushers to mend their ways as mandated in the Dangerous Drug Board Resolution No. 3 series

With safety and health protocols in place to curb the coronavirus outbreak, the President reminded the village officials about their responsibility as “persons in authority” in their areas of jurisdiction.
Duterte made the statement after Interior and Local Government Secretary Eduardo Año reported the planned filing of charges against certain village officials over the violation of the mass gathering rule at a resort in Caloocan City. Hundreds of people were earlier spotted swimming at a resort even as the modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ) remained in effect in Metro Manila based on the photos that circulated on social media. The resort has reportedly been ordered closed over the alleged quarantine violations.

File May 11, 2021 NEARLY 19 million people in the National Capital Region and in the provinces of Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna and Rizal have received cash assistance from the government, Department of the Interior and Local Government Secretary Eduardo Año said on Monday evening, May 10, 2021.
In his report to President Rodrigo Duterte, Año said 18,822,713, or 82.14 percent of the targeted beneficiaries, have received the P1,000 assistance per individual or P4,000 per family.
“We have five days left to distribute the cash aid,” he said.
Año said 9,235,469 received aid in the National Capital Region (NCR), 2,483,985 in Bulacan, 2,559,602 in Cavite, 1,984,159 in Rizal and 2,559,489 in Laguna.
