Holy hell.
Because they are coming out with the most outlandishly stupid stuff.
Like Paora Goldsmith who thinks that as part of New Zealand history our kids should be educated about how Smith and Caugheys developed their business model, rather than how the Treaty of Waitangi and the subsequent egregious breaches are fundamental parts of our history that have shaped Aotearoa New Zealand society.
New Zealand’s first draft plan to teach our own history in schools has been slammed as “unbalanced” by the Opposition National Party.
The long-awaited draft curriculum for what are called “Aotearoa New Zealand’s Histories” is structured around just three “big ideas” – all about Māori and colonisation. They are:

Given the huge problems and challenges
faced by Wellington City, and by proxy the Wellington

Media Release
The New Zealand Maori Council has welcomed the move by the Government, and Local Government Minister, Nanaia Mahuta, to amend legislation that will consign to history the barriers to the establishment of Maori Wards. Maori Council Executive Director, Matthew Tukaki, said this change had been fought for by so many over many a number of years and was a vindication that “we were right”. Tukaki said
“For a long time now we have seen racism in this country writ large by those who claim to represent the views of ratepayers only to find they actually represent the views of those who really just don’t care about Maori. Deputy Mayor Josh Wharehinga takes to social media about the Hobson s Pledge pamphlets being dropped in Gisborne. The changes mean petitions around the country seeking to overturn Māori wards won’t be worth the paper they’re signed on. They push out the previously-expired deadline for councils to make a decision, to May 21. Day said she felt there would be the numbers around the council table to adopt the wards, if there was now time. Once the decision was made, it could no longer be overturned by a voter poll. She was “very keen” to look at the wards – she would be looking at the options for bringing it to the council table. The council previously held off making a decision after getting wind of potential legal changes, she said.
Joyce Aryee refutes Ahwoi’s claim she left PNDC after transfer to Local Gov t Ministry LISTEN
JAN 29, 2021
A former secretary to the then Provisional National Defence Council (PNDC), Dr. Joyce Aryee has refuted claims she left the party after she was asked to work in another ministry– the Ministry of Local Government.
In his book, Working with Rawlings, NDC stalwart and former Local Government Minister, Prof. Kwamena Ahwoi stated that “in 1988 the Ministry of Local Government was the “Siberia” of the Ministries. Nobody wanted to be appointed as the PNDC Secretary for Local Government, because appointment to the Ministry invariably saw the exit of the appointee from the government. Besides, it was a very “dry” Ministry which was very starved of resources, but I am not sure whether it was deliberate. Indeed, Ms. Joyce Aryee had left the PNDC system on account of her having been moved from the Ministry of Education to the Ministry of Local Government, a position sh
