IVINS, Utah â A man was arrested in Washington County after shooting and killing his wife, according to police.
Officers responded Friday to a home in Ivins on a report of shots fired. When they arrived, they found one person dead from multiple gunshot wounds. Steven Timothy Smith, 59, was at the scene with blood on his hands and clothes, and he was taken into custody.
The victim was not named, but according to court documents, the person who first reported the incident to police said Smith shot his wife after being told that she was leaving him.

SOUTH SALT LAKE â Friends and family members held a vigil Sunday to honor the life of Shandon Nicole Scott.
Scott is believed by police to have been shot and killed by her boyfriend Saturday morning. Her body was
found in a car on I-80 westbound near the State Street and 700 East exits. When police arrived, the driver was gone. Police later arrested the suspect in Scottâs murder. The suspect has been identified by Unified Police as Terence Trent Vos.

Now, Salt Lake County leaders and advocates are urging people to keep an eye out in their own communities and report any evidence of neglect or physical, emotional and sexual abuse so authorities can intervene.
