Shillong: No ILP No Rest echoed the streets of Shillong city on December 30 as over eight thousand members of pressure groups under the umbrella of Confederation of Meghalaya Social Organisation (CoMSO) marched from Shillong polytechnic till Motphran carrying torchlight pressing for their demand for Inner Line Permit (ILP) in Meghalaya while commemorating the 158th death anniversary of the legendary freedom fighter, Woh Kiang Nongbah.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday said the Inner-Line Permit (ILP) had been the Centre’s biggest gift to Manipur since its statehood.
Implemented under the British-era Bengal Eastern Frontier Regulation, the ILP is an official document issued to let an Indian citizen enter a protected area for a limited period. Pressure groups in the northeast view this permit as a shield against the entry of illegal immigrants.
