Friends and relatives of seven Air Force officers, who died in a plane crash on Sunday, paid glowing tributes to them.
The Nigeria Air Force personnel were on their way from Abuja to Minna, Niger State to rescue abducted students and workers of Government Science College, Kagara when their plane crashed shortly after takeoff from the Nnamdi Azikwe International Airport.
According to NAF, the personnel were Flight Lieutenant Haruna Gadzama (Captain); Flight Lieutenant Henry Piyo (Co-Pilot); Flying Officer Michael Okpara (Airborne Tactical ObservationSystem (ATOS) Specialist); Warrant Officer Bassey Etim (ATOS Specialist); Flight Sergeant Olasunkanmi Olawunmi (ATOS Specialist); Sergeant UgochukwuOluka (ATOS Specialist) and Aircraftman Adewale Johnson (Onboard Technician).

The black box and cockpit recorder of Nigeria Air Force (NAF) Beachcraft airplane, which crashed yesterday, have been recovered. Seven persons killed in the accident have been recovered and evacuated.
Lamenting the tragedy, President Muhammadu Buhari said he remained committed to the safety of the Nigerian airspace.
The aircraft, which was en route Minna, Niger State capital, crashed shortly after the perimeter fence of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.
Firemen attached to the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) put out the fire in the after noon while officials of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) were on ground.
