President Donald Trump says Republicans scored a victory in Wednesdays congressional hearing, and he is declaring the impeachment inquiry “over.”
During a visit to an Apple assembly plant in Texas, Trump highlighted the testimony of Gordon Sondland, ambassador to the European Union, who testified that the president wanted “nothing” from Ukraine.
Trump says, “Not only did we win today, it’s over.”
But Sondland also declared that Trump and his lawyer, Rudy Giuliani, explicitly sought a “quid pro quo” with Ukraine, leveraging a White House meeting for political investigations of Democrats. Sondland testified it was his “understanding” the president was holding up nearly $400 million in military aid in exchange for the countrys announcement of the investigations.

The Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI) will establish a new center tasked with tracking overseas efforts to wage disinformation and influence campaigns in the U.S., a spokesperson said Monday.
The Foreign Malign Influence Center will focus on coordinating and integrating intelligence pertaining to malign influence, drawing together relevant and diverse expertise to better understand and monitor the challenge, the ODNI spokesman said in a statement.
The official said that plans for the center arose in response to congressional demands and in light of evolving threats.

On Thursday’s broadcast of CNN’s “The Lead,” House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff (D-CA) reacted to U.S. intelligence walking back claims that Russia put bounties on American troops by criticizing former President Donald Trump for failing to confront the Russians on the issue, and saying that it’s his belief “that the intelligence community believes that the Russians did engage in this conduct but they don’t have the requisite level of confidence in that conclusion to go forward with sanctions on that basis.”
