And long before the 2020 lockdown, there were videos of media personality Edwin Katamba aka MC Kats, first in December 2019 making his HIV status public and then a more unfortunate one released by a girl he had just had sex with. Both videos sparked a storm of stigma against the celebrated broadcaster and MC, with some thinking he would not recover from it. But clearly, MC Kats knows how to make lemonade from his lemons, because his latest project is a campaign to combat stigma against people living with HIV.
