This is the UFC 264 live blog for Dustin Poirier vs. Conor McGregor 3, the lightweight main event for Saturday’s fight card at UFC APEX in Las Vegas.
The fight is a highly anticipated trilogy that was set in motion by a rematch. Frustrated with inactivity in 2020, McGregor angled for a charity MMA match with Poirier and was directed to the octagon by the UFC, which put them in the octagon in January at UFC 257. Fighting 10 pounds heavier than their initial meeting in 2014, Poirier absorbed McGregor’s best shots and returned fire to hobble the former two-division champ and put him away in the second round, avenging a 2014 knockout loss at featherweight.

This is the UFC 264 live blog for Gilbert Burns vs. Stephen Thompson, the welterweight co-main event for Saturday’s fight card at UFC APEX in Las Vegas.
Between them, Burns and Thompson have challenged for the UFC welterweight title on three occasions and seek to stay in the title picture. Burns, the No. 3 ranked fighter in the MMA Fighting Global Rankings, is just five months removed from a bid for undisputed champ Kamaru Usman’s belt. After a strong opened round in which he rocked the champ, Burns was outstruck and finished in the third round, snapping a six-fight winning streak that included wins over multi-time title challenger Demian Maia and ex-champ Tyron Woodley.

This is the UFC 264 live blog for Irene Aldana vs. Yana Kunitskaya, a catchweight main card bout for Saturday’s fight card at UFC APEX in Las Vegas.
The bout is being contested at a catchweight of 139.5 pounds after Aldana missed weight for the bantamweight limit of 136 pounds. Aldana, No. 4 on MMA Fighting’s Global Rankings, later apologized for her miss and said her body shut down during the weight-cutting process; she paid Kunitskaya 30 percent of her show purse.
Aldana returns to the octagon after a decision loss to ex-champ Holly Holm that delayed her title aspirations. Prior to that, she had won two straight, including a knockout of contender-apparent Kelten Vieira. Overall, she is 5-4 in the octagon.

Dustin Poirier and Conor McGregor went face-to-face one last time before they make the walk to the octagon on Saturday.
At Friday’s UFC 264 ceremonial weigh-ins, UFC president Dana White wasn’t going to let Poirier and McGregor get anywhere near each other, and after an intense faceoff, both men gave their final thoughts on the matchup.
McGregor kicked things off and he was certainly more vicious with his words.
“In 16 hours time, this man is going to learn that when you disrespect a person’s kindness and take it as a weakness, you must pay,” McGregor told Joe Rogan inside the T-Mobile Arena on Friday. “Tomorrow night, I’m gonna make this man pay with his life and I mean it. You’re dead in that octagon tomorrow night.”
