The Tragically Hip Unearth Road Apples Rarities for New Album Saskadelphia

Saskadelphia arrives May 21 through Universal Music Canada and features six previously unreleased tracks written in 1990.   Five of those were recorded during sessions for sophomore LP  Road Apples, while live cut  Montreal was captured during a 2000 performance at the titular city s Molson Centre (now the Bell Centre). Longtime Hip listeners will recognize Saskadelphia as the original working title of  Road Apples, which was ultimately rejected by label execs for being too Canadian. The band had coined the name in reference to their extensive touring cycle of the early 90s. Drummer Johnny Fay shared of the unearthed material, We didn t know what was there, so this meant baking [the tapes] and listening to them as they were being transferred. Hearing them for the first time in 30 years was crazy.
